Winning at the edge requires a team effort

by | Jan 18, 2021 | Internet of Things

We have written about the importance of the edge for quite some time now, so we are very familiar with how important edge computing is for many IoT systems and applications. This is especially true for Industrial IoT (IIoT) applications, where real-time data processing is critical for asset health and monitoring. Proper leveraging of the edge can result in a powerful and scalable solution that delivers operational efficiencies and cost savings.

A recent article does an excellent job of drawing attention to the various pieces that must come together to create this successful edge deployment. One area that often doesn’t get enough attention in edge systems is memory. As intelligent edge systems evolve, compute requirements and code and data storage will increase, making memory an important component of a successful edge implementation.

Software application providers, cloud vendors, compute and enterprise network OEMs, and others will need to be able to collaborate on projects. That’s why at SDS we describe ourselves as “Partners in Innovation.” We work closely with our clients to help them further develop their ideas, and we also have experience working with other third parties when needed to make sure every aspect of a project is properly designed and developed.

Software Design Solutions builds complicated software and hardware for embedded systems and IoT devices for a wide range of markets—industrial, medical, audio/visual, networking, security, consumer, and government. We are based in Pittsburgh, PA; SDS continues to serve clients across the nation for everything from sensors to space travel.
