When asked about our predictions for 2020, no one would have guessed what our personal and professional lives would look like. We have all come to rely on certain things we never considered essential before. For example, masks have become a regular part of our daily wardrobe and something we can’t leave home without.
While we have always relied on communications technology to conduct business, the pandemic has made reliable and secure connections even more critical as many businesses shifted to remote work (and continue to do so well into 2021 for most employees). Unfortunately, COVID delayed Release 17 of 5G, but Wi-Fi 6 is stepping in. If we compare Wi-Fi 5 vs Wi-Fi 6, the sixth version provides better latency, capacity, and efficiency.
While Wi-Fi 6 is by no means a replacement for 5G, organizations are using it in more IoT deployments. The technology allows for simultaneous data transmission to or from one or more users and offers more powerful security and authentication functionality.
